Marian Longenecker Beaman
Mennonite Daughter: The Story of a Plain Girl
September 24, 6:30pm
Marian Longenecker Beaman, formerly of Elizabethtown, taught English at Lancaster Mennonite School for several years. An author and blogger, Marian's new memoir Mennonite Daughter: The Story of a Plain Girl, records the charms and challenges of growing up in the strict culture of the Lancaster Mennonite Conference in the 1950s.
Marian's memoir is the store of one Mennonite girl who benefited from a plain, sheltered life with boundaries, but who bucked church tradition, along with coming to terms with a difficult relationship with her father and church leaders. She shares her story to preserve these memories and to leave a legacy for future generations.
Following her retirement as a professor at Florida State College, Marian writes the Plain and Fancy blog from her home in Florida, where her husband, grown children, and grandchildren also reside.
Marian will share stories of her childhood and talk about writing her memoir, followed by a book signing. Only books purchased at Aaron's Books may be presented for signature.
